Product Liability Lawyers in Queens
Representing Clients Injured by Defective Products
Under New York State law, product designers, manufacturers, and distributors are prohibited from placing unreasonably dangerous and/or defective products on the market. Unfortunately, such products do make it into the stream of commerce—and into the hands of consumers—all the time. Whether as a result of prioritizing profits over safety or even due to an unknown error in production, companies routinely allow faulty, harmful, and hazardous products to reach consumers and, when they do, they can be held liable.
If you were harmed by a defective product or if your loved one was killed after using a faulty or unreasonably dangerous item, reach out to The Russell Friedman Law Practice, LLP right away. Our Queens product liability lawyers can help you file a claim and seek fair compensation for your damages, including your medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more. There is no cost and no risk in discussing your situation with an attorney at our firm.

What Makes a Product Defective?
Simply put, a defective product is one that contains a flaw that renders the product unsafe for normal use. A product can also be considered defective if its design is such that the product poses an unreasonable risk to users, even when it is used as intended and according to instructions.
In general, there are three categories of product defects:
- Design Defects: When a product is designed in such a way that it is hazardous even when used normally, it has a defective design.
- Manufacturing Defects: If a flaw is introduced during the manufacturing phase of production, the product has a manufacturing defect.
- Labeling Defect: When a product lacks proper warning labels, instructions, and/or side effect warnings, it has a labeling defect.
A defective product may fall into one of the above categories or it may have two or more types of defects. In any case, manufacturers and distributors that allow defective products onto the market—whether or not they knew of the existence of the defect—can be held liable for any damages those products cause.
Examples of Common Product Defects
Any product—whether it is a household appliance, a motor vehicle, or even construction/industrial materials—has the potential to contain a defect. That being said, certain types of products are more often the subject of product recalls and/or contain defects that make them unsafe.
Some examples of relatively common defective products include:
- Defective vehicle design, such as SUVs that are prone to rolling over or cars with unsafe gas tank placement, leading to a heightened risk of explosions/fires
- Defective automotive parts, including tires, seatbelts, airbags, brakes, engine parts, and other essential components and safety features
- Household appliances, such as washers and dryers, water heaters, HVAC systems, dishwashers, and other home/commercial appliances
- Electronics and electronic equipment, such as computers, tablets, monitors, cell phones, chargers, and more
- Children’s products, including toys, cribs, car seats, and other items
- Pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices, such as hip replacements, pacemakers, transvaginal mesh, blood thinners, birth control medications, and many more
While these are some of the most common examples of defective products, this list is by no means exhaustive. If you were injured after using any product that was defective or if you were involved in an accident that resulted from a faulty product, get in touch with our Queens product liability lawyers to learn more about how we can help.
Don’t Wait to File Your Claim
According to New York law, the statute of limitations on defective product claims is three years. That means you have three years in which to bring your claim for product liability. However, the sooner you bring your claim the better. Over time, evidence can be lost and memories can fade. The more evidence we are able to gather to support your claim—including evidence of the product defect and your injuries—the better able we will be to advocate for maximum compensation on your behalf.
We encourage you to reach out to The Russell Friedman Law Practice, LLP right away if you or someone you care about was injured by a defective product in Queens or any of the surrounding areas.
